Let My Community Help You Pay for College!

My Community Credit Union (MCCU) is pleased to offer six $2,500 scholarships to student members. This scholarship is open to high school seniors, current college students, and members who want to further their education. Please download the attached application and return it to one of our branches or mail to My Community Credit Union, 600 W. Louisiana, Midland, TX 79701, ATTN: Marketing.  DEADLINE  - April 11, 2025.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Scholarship applicant (not applicant's parent) must be a MCCU member with a checking and/or savings account prior to applying.
  • Applicant's account must be in good standing.
  • Applicant be enrolled as a full-time student as defined by students’ college or university.
  • Applicant must submit all required attachments with application; incomplete applications will not be eligible.
  • Awards must be used for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Applications must be postmarked by April 11, 2025 in order to be considered.
  • Scholarship recipients must maintain their membership with My Community Credit Union throughout award period.

Award Criteria:

In addition to eligibility guidelines, the following will be considered in selecting recipients.

  • Academic Performance — Academic performance and honors (On a 4.0 scale, a GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended), class rank, and ACT/SAT test scores (a minimum SAT score of 800 and/or a minimum ACT score of 19 is highly recommended).
  • Activities — Community and school activities, involvement, leadership positions, and awards/recognition
  • Recommendations & Transcripts
  • Essay — On assigned topic

Please read the following instructions and requirements carefully to find out how we can help you become the next MCCU scholarship recipient.

2025 Crossroad Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to the 2025 My Community Crossroads Scholarship Winners!

Every year, My Community awards $2,500 scholarships to deserving members who have demonstrated academic achievement and desire to pursue higher education. It is our honor to help our members achieve their education goals.

Awards were based on academic achievement, writing assessments, recommendations, and transcripts, as well as the student’s potential, character, leadership and financial need.

Alelyeli Armendariz- Sanchez

Alelyeli Armendariz-Sanchez was born in Odessa, Tx and raised in Midland, TX. She is 18 years old and a recent graduate of Early College High School at Midland College. She plans on attending the University of Texas in the Permian Basin, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice studies. She intends to become a behavior analyst or forensic scientist. 

Audrey Daye

Audrey Daye is graduating from Midland College with an Associate of General Studies. This Fall, she will begin pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at the University of North Texas. Audrey has been accepted to the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine through Midland College’s Primary Care Pathway Program, where she will go on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. After medical school, she plans to return to West Texas to serve as a physician at a local hospital. Audrey has developed a deep connection to the West Texas community and is passionate about giving back to the region that has supported her throughout her academic and personal journey.

Carly Pinson

Carly Pinson is a graduating senior from Midland High School who will attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the fall to study marketing. Carly was ranked among the top ten students in her graduating class and was also part of the orchestra for seven years where she played the viola. Furthermore, Carly is heavily involved in her church youth group and church orchestra. In her free time, you can find Carly socializing with family and friends or watching sports.

Corinne Berry

My name is Corinne Berry, and I’m thrilled to be graduating from Legacy High School! This fall, I’ll be heading to Texas A&M University to major in Biology, with plans to pursue nursing school and eventually become a pediatric oncology nurse. Academics have always been a priority for me, but I’ve also had many hobbies that I am very passionate about, including competitive dance. In addition, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with children and families through several years of nannying. I am deeply committed to helping others, and can’t wait to see how God will guide my journey in the years ahead!

Jocelyn Ramos

Hello, my name is Jocelyn Ramos. I am the oldest of three children to my parents Joe Ramos and Linda Soto. I am a first-generation student at the University of Texas – Permian Basin working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. My hobbies include shopping, crocheting, and hanging out with friends. I aspire to become a Certified Public Accountant and with this scholarship, I will be one step closer to achieving this goal. Along with my constant love for learning, my motivation to pursue higher education is to be someone that my two younger sisters can look up to for hope and guidance, and someone that my parents can be proud of. I hope to one day be someone who can take care of my family the same way that they have always taken care of me.

Maryna Khan

Maryna Khan is an accomplished student at the University of Texas at Austin, pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with honors in the advanced program. She is passionate about understanding the entire human development process, from infancy through adulthood, and how life transitions impact an individual’s mental, physical, and relational well-being. With a deep interest in this field, Maryna has accumulated hundreds of hours of research experience, including her work in the “Discovering Signals” FRI Biology Research stream, where she has contributed to groundbreaking studies on ATP and Arabidopsis. 

In addition to her academic and research achievements, Maryna is passionately dedicated to serving underserved communities, particularly focusing on immigrant children. Her volunteer work in teaching English has deepened her commitment to empowering vulnerable populations and making a meaningful impact on their lives. Maryna also volunteers at St. David’s Medical Center, where she observes various surgeries, gaining invaluable clinical experience. During these observations, she connects with patients, offering compassion and support to those who are alone and vulnerable, further fueling her desire to pursue a career in medicine. 

Through her leadership roles at UT and hands-on service work, Maryna has developed a strong foundation of compassion, dedication, and a deep commitment to improving healthcare and supporting underserved communities. These experiences are shaping her path toward a future in medicine, where she is determined to make a lasting and positive difference in the lives of those who need it most. 

Mercedes Jimenez

Mercedes Jimenez is a May 2026 expected graduate of Texas Tech University, where she is pursuing a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science. Since beginning her studies in August 2022, Mercedes has balanced her coursework with part-time work at TTU UIL Academics and Curby’s Express Market.

At Texas Tech, she has remained actively involved in student organizations, including the Association of Women in Mathematics (AWM) and the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), which have helped her grow both academically and professionally. She also regularly volunteers in her community through the TTU Honor Societies. 

Mercedes is a proud member of the MCCU community and is committed to using her education and experience to make meaningful contributions in the field of technology, especially in ways that serve and uplift her local communities.

Trinity McWhorter

Trinity McWhorter is a senior at Lovejoy High School and a proud fourth generation Baylor Bear. This fall, she is excited to carry on her family’s legacy at Baylor University, where she plans to major in Business Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation. Trinity is known for her leadership and big heart for helping others. Throughout High School, she has been actively involved in National Honor Society, Best Buddies, Lovejoy Acts of Random Kindness, Peer Assistance and Leadership (PALS), Peer Assistance of Students with Disabilities, and the Lovejoy Fishing Team. She also serves as a student leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where she helps encourage community and others in their faith.

Victoria Burchett

Victoria is a senior at Lovejoy High School and will be studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the University of Oxford this fall. Graduating at the top of her class, Victoria is a quick learner and always looking for the next challenge. She strives to consistently evolve and improve while being aware of others' needs and leading by example. While balancing rigorous AP classes and extracurricular activities, Victoria has always made it a priority to serve others. She volunteers weekly at the local food pantry and has led initiatives to expand educational opportunities in developing countries.
